On Resolutions

Millions of Americans make New Year Resolutions. Many times they are the same as the year before. They usually tend to be grand, overly vague, and somewhat unattainable. We in some cases hope to completely change ourselves or our environment and then be done with it, What we don't realize is that most times they are works in progress, they are things that need to be constantly worked. They are also things that need to be planned, strategized. Really though, why do we do this to ourselves every year? I constantly see in the media the phrase "New Year, New You", but why do we wait until the new year to make goals? Why not our birthdays? Why not President's Day? What if you're ready in the middle of March to start doing? To be honest, I feel like the whole Resolution thing is perpetuated by the media and it tells us that we can't do something significant unless we declare it on New Year's Day.  You walk into the stores and organizational items line the shelves, health, diet and fitness aids line the shelves. Gyms fill up with people who decide to make too aggressive of a start, people who won't be there in two weeks. It's all a very sad sight.

This year I have forgone the Resolution.

You read that right, no real Resolution, and I feel fantastic about that.

I've already been working on myself, my eating habits, my health, and fixing the broken. That will be an ongoing thing, habits that will last a lifetime. I didn't start this on a resolution, but I was ready, and good habits multiply almost automatically. The way you think when you're ready for things to change is different. It's a slow process, not an overhaul, and I expect this to continue for a long, long time, mostly because I like being the best me I can be.

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Review

I received the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara last month in my Influenster RoseVoxBox.

It promised:

My first impression wasn't very good. I found it to be too wet of a formula and was very messy to apply. The wand deposited too much product on my lashes and would pretty much straighten my already curly lashes. I continued to use the mascara and after a week it was the perfect consistency. Now I only need one coat on both top and bottom lashes.

After scraping the excess off the wand, I brush the tops of my lashes and then wiggle the wand at the base and brush out. My lower lashes are impressive. This mascara is really pigmented and doesn't clump on one coat or two. More than that, it's clump city!

This mascara hit the shelves November 2013, so it should be in stores right now!

Dr. Scholl's® For Her Cozy Cushions Review

I received the Dr. Scholl's® For Her Cozy Cushions insoles in my Influenster RoseVoxBox and quickly proceeded to put them into my most worn pair of boots.

It was a tad difficult to get the perfect placement, though they are easy enough to trim to get a perfect fit, but once you were in, you don't want to take them off.

They are great if you buy boots that are slightly too big or are like me and have more narrow feet as the extra thickness will essentially conform to your feet!

These also help a lot with supporting my ankle, as I had broken it years ago and the extra snugness helps stabilize it. I think it's safe to say that I'm sold on these.

<-- That right there? It's absolutely true! So cozy!

Influenster RoseVoxbox 2013

I was selected to receive the Influenster RoseVoxbox to review while I was away and I'm excited to dive right in and play with the goods.

For those who are not familiar, Influenster is a service that periodically provides bloggers and other "trendsetters" free products to review.

Here is what was inside:

I am really excited to try these things out. This box couldn't have come at a better time.

I'm Back!

Hey guys!

I've been away from this blog for way too long!

I missed writing about all the fun stuff I've been seeing recently and sharing my thoughts on it all.

I hope to get back into the blogging groove soon.

Influenster

If you've read my blog for a while, you'd know that last year I was accepted as a member of Influenster.  As a member, they send you boxes full of goodies to review.  I've received a couple of boxes and can I say that I've loved it?! Well, I just did! The best part? It's free to join! All you need is an invite from a current member.

So you're wondering, what's the point? Well, the point is to review and participate in this community. The more you participate, the more "influence" you are perceived to have. It's a nifty idea, though the whole points thing isn't my favorite. Some people already are influential in their own right. They've worked for a long time on establishing their brand, and their influence is rightfully so. But some know someone else who is influential in the same right and got a mention on their social media channel and therefore are more "popular" and more desirable within the program even if they didn't really do much for it. This is where my issue lies.

I don't write here or at my other space for subscribers. I'd like others to read my posts for their comments.  I yearn to have discussions on here sometimes, too! While my numbers are still low, I am so far enjoying what has been said. For this, I will continue to write, and if I'm selected for a box of goodies, awesome!  If not, that's ok too.

OK, that went in a whole other direction. LOL! It's alright. It's what I do. :D

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hr Eyeshadow - Tough as Taupe - Review

Hey guys!  I know I've been out for a bit and I apologize for that. I've been trying to get things settled in my apartment.  It's hard to believe how long it's taken me to unpack from this last move, but doing it slowly and correct is better than quickly and messily.

But anyways...

The internet has been abuzz with these Color Tattoos by Maybelline. Resist as I may, I couldn't resist any longer, so here we are.  I know I'm quite late to the game, but I didn't think much of them when they first came out.  I just thought to myself that I had plenty of cream eye shadows   I ended up picking one up in the color Tough as Taupe.  It's a grayish purplish taupe color with very slight shimmer.

HAHA! I couldn't help myself and dipped my fingers in before taking pics.

So far I think it's fantastic! It doesn't crease on me and makes for a quick daytime look. It looks great on my tan skin, too!

See? And this is just one sheer swatch! It's easy to build up, too.  I have picked up the limited edition ones, the neutral Fashion Week 2012 collection and those will be swatched soon!
