Where have I been?

You know, sometimes life gets in the way of things. I always feel like I have 20 things going at once, from cleaning to job applications to family duties. The change in seasons is even harder on me. My body reacts strangely to it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way, though. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm sorry for disappearing. It was unwarranted and I allowed the stresses of life to get the better of me and to pretty much kill my inspiration.

And now, on to the next post!

Operation: Minimization

I hate to say it, but I think I must. I think it's time to hold back a bit on my hobby. As a beauty enthusiast, I have way too much, probably more than any one person can wear in a few years. I don't wear cosmetics everyday, so I just don't go through much in a year. So what better time to put myself on this project?

For those unfamiliar with this, I am doing my version of a Project 10 Pan. A Project 10 Pan is where a person puts themselves on a cosmetics no buy until they use up 10 pans of product. My rules will be a bit different. I am going to go as long as I can, using up what I have (of course) of things that I won't be repurchasing. What's the point of doing such a project if I'm just going to use up my favorite products and then repurchase them? I will end it when I find myself getting extra bored, or it finally becomes too hot here in NJ to wear a full on face of cosmetics (which happens at around the end of June).

So here are the rules I will set for myself:
  • Everything will have it's own post and review, listing it as an Operation: Minimization item, unless it's been discontinued or a post was already made.
  • They must be products I'm not very fond of. The reasons why I am not fond of them will be listed.
  • I will also try and get through samples, which, I may purchase if I like them enough.
  • I will not go on a no-buy, but will limit myself to the occasional limited edition items and things that I really enjoy from samples. Things sent to me for review or as prizes don't count as purchased items and are therefore exempt from this.
  • Update of progress will be made alongside an empties post.
  • Items will be any beauty items from cleansers to powders to lip products.
  • Multiples of products I own will count as separate items.
  • Deluxe samples of some items will count individually if they have 10 uses or more.
  • Some samples will be counted in groups. (again, 10+ uses = 1 product)
My goal really is to minimize the products that I'm not excited to use, get rid of the products that I don't like at all, and maybe use up some items that I don't seem to think about, or at least rediscover my love for those products. I think I can do this, and I will go through more skincare as I use that more. I'm really hoping to go through some eyeshadows and lip products. My vanity drawers for both are getting really out of hand.

So here we go! Wish me luck!

Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara Review

I received the Rimmel London Scandaleyes Retro Glam Mascara last month in my Influenster RoseVoxBox.

It promised:

My first impression wasn't very good. I found it to be too wet of a formula and was very messy to apply. The wand deposited too much product on my lashes and would pretty much straighten my already curly lashes. I continued to use the mascara and after a week it was the perfect consistency. Now I only need one coat on both top and bottom lashes.

After scraping the excess off the wand, I brush the tops of my lashes and then wiggle the wand at the base and brush out. My lower lashes are impressive. This mascara is really pigmented and doesn't clump on one coat or two. More than that, it's clump city!

This mascara hit the shelves November 2013, so it should be in stores right now!

Dr. Scholl's® For Her Cozy Cushions Review

I received the Dr. Scholl's® For Her Cozy Cushions insoles in my Influenster RoseVoxBox and quickly proceeded to put them into my most worn pair of boots.

It was a tad difficult to get the perfect placement, though they are easy enough to trim to get a perfect fit, but once you were in, you don't want to take them off.

They are great if you buy boots that are slightly too big or are like me and have more narrow feet as the extra thickness will essentially conform to your feet!

These also help a lot with supporting my ankle, as I had broken it years ago and the extra snugness helps stabilize it. I think it's safe to say that I'm sold on these.

<-- That right there? It's absolutely true! So cozy!

Influenster RoseVoxbox 2013

I was selected to receive the Influenster RoseVoxbox to review while I was away and I'm excited to dive right in and play with the goods.

For those who are not familiar, Influenster is a service that periodically provides bloggers and other "trendsetters" free products to review.

Here is what was inside:

I am really excited to try these things out. This box couldn't have come at a better time.

I'm Back!

Hey guys!

I've been away from this blog for way too long!

I missed writing about all the fun stuff I've been seeing recently and sharing my thoughts on it all.

I hope to get back into the blogging groove soon.

Influenster

If you've read my blog for a while, you'd know that last year I was accepted as a member of Influenster.  As a member, they send you boxes full of goodies to review.  I've received a couple of boxes and can I say that I've loved it?! Well, I just did! The best part? It's free to join! All you need is an invite from a current member.

So you're wondering, what's the point? Well, the point is to review and participate in this community. The more you participate, the more "influence" you are perceived to have. It's a nifty idea, though the whole points thing isn't my favorite. Some people already are influential in their own right. They've worked for a long time on establishing their brand, and their influence is rightfully so. But some know someone else who is influential in the same right and got a mention on their social media channel and therefore are more "popular" and more desirable within the program even if they didn't really do much for it. This is where my issue lies.

I don't write here or at my other space for subscribers. I'd like others to read my posts for their comments.  I yearn to have discussions on here sometimes, too! While my numbers are still low, I am so far enjoying what has been said. For this, I will continue to write, and if I'm selected for a box of goodies, awesome!  If not, that's ok too.

OK, that went in a whole other direction. LOL! It's alright. It's what I do. :D
